About Us

The Drum Shed opened its doors for the first time at 10 am on Saturday 8th Decmber, 2007. It started life in a real life shed in Chesham where the co - owners John Graham and Bob Murray discussed the need for a drum and percussion shop in their locality.

John has a successful drum school which has grown steadily over the past decade. He got used to the idea of sending people miles to get decent equipment and knowledgeable advice, when along came Bob who said

“Why are you sending people miles to get decent equipment and knowledgable advice (which sounded scarily like the last paragraph) when we could open a shop in Chesham and do the same thing here?”

...or words to that effect.

So the plan was hatched, and the doors were pushed; some opened and some stayed shut. A name was thought up. Bank manager was schmoozed. A premises was found. (This in itself had had a diverse history as a funeral parlour, a nailbar and tanning salon, and a motorcycle test centre… and now it is a drum shop.) The best little drum shop for miles.

In April of 2009 we opened an additional premise which houses our warehouse, two brand new teaching rooms complete with Roland electronic kits, a display area for drum kits and an office. This has freed up space in the shop and allowed us to have a room dedicated to percussion.

The Drum Shed: Friendly service, good advice, and if you stay long enough, a decent cup of coffee!
